The Whalebone CTO Robert Sefr has been selected as one of the speakers for this year’s QuBit IT security conference in Belgrade. Using Neural Networks to detect malicious domains is a result of long term joint research with Prague Technical university and Whalebone is very excited about the results of the works!
Pattern recognition is one of the common use cases of Neural Networks. Deep learning brings lot of new possibilities in detection previously unknown attacks, however could be also tricky because of the false positives. Speaker will present fresh results of almost year lasting research in the area of detecting threats in DNS traffic. The research team was put together from specialists from Whalebone and researchers from Czech University of Technology with extensive experience in deep learning and botnet detection. During the presentation two approaches will be described. One is a Neural network detecting randomly generated domains (aiming at Domain Generation Algorithm based botnets), the second one aims at behavior of clients over time (aiming more at the detection of infected machines externalities). Speech will go into detail about results from the real world DNS traffic originating from regular households and enterprises.
See you in Belgrade at QuBit 2017!

10. august is the deadline for Czech ISP’s to block website 1xbet.com at their networks. The obligation to block this site has its roots in the regulation system of hazard in the Czech republic. It is the very first website to be blocked here in Czechia as a result adding it to the “List of prohibited internet games”.
Whalebone helps ISP’s worldwide to fight against malware, moreover in the Czech republic we can solve blocking of above mentioned website completely. There is one feed amongst many others called MFCR (abbreviation of “Ministry of finance of the Czech republic”) where will be added each new domain added to the official list mentioned above.
We aim to help ISP’s to fulfil their legal obligation without further investments of time, money or their work. We consider this responsibility as a part of our service to our customers.
Do you want to know more about it? Feel free to contact us or even use our chat here in the bottom right corner.

Whalebone celebrates great success! We have just signed a memorandum setting out the intention to deploy Whalebone into commercial operation on the Austrian A1 network and as time goes by, with other companies, both within the Telekom Austria Group (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Liechtenstein) and in the América Movil enterprise, which owns the TAG.
The agreement represents an important step for Whalebone in the segment of major national operators. Collaboration also means gradual entry into the B2B enterprise market in German-speaking countries.
Whalebone will also be a part of the A1 Startup Campus for three years, which means, among other things, it will have its own offices in Vienna and the ability to use the datacenter capabilities of the Austrian Telecom.
