For most people in Cambodia, the mobile phone is the main route to banking, government services, messaging, shopping, and entertainment. That concentration is convenient, and it also makes the phone the most valuable target a fraudster can reach.
Cellcard has launched CyberSafe, a new cybersecurity service powered by Whalebone Aura. CyberSafe is the telco's network-level security service for its mass-market customer base, and it protects them directly at the network level, with no application to install and nothing to configure.
The new protection layer applies to the connected devices. There is no download, no update cycle, and no security settings for the customer to maintain.
CyberSafe runs inside cellcard's infrastructure rather than on the customer's device. The technology behind it, Whalebone Aura, works at the DNS layer, the point where a request for a website or an application is translated into the address a device connects to. Malicious destinations are blocked at that moment, before a connection is ever established.
The practical difference is what happens when a customer taps a link in an SMS, a Telegram message, or an email. Instead of loading a fraudulent banking page, the connection is stopped and the customer sees a warning.
Traditional consumer security asks the user to do the work: choose a product, install it, keep it updated, and act on alerts. Many people never complete that sequence, which is why conventional security products reach only a small share of a mobile customer base.
Moving protection into the network changes the economics. Operators deploying Whalebone Aura see average adoption rates above 50 percent in mass-market deployments, churn below 2 percent, and an ARPU uplift above 5 percent. Cybersecurity stops being a support cost and becomes a service that earns revenue and strengthens the operator's position as the safety provider to its customers.
As part of the deployment, cellcard joins Whalebone’s Telco Cybersecurity Success Program, the framework Whalebone uses to take partners from the business case through go-to-market and long-term growth, drawing on what has worked in comparable launches in other markets.
With CyberSafe, cellcard joins more than 400 communication service providers worldwide that have chosen Whalebone to protect their customers and differentiate their networks.
