A1 Slovenia Goes Live, Completing Whalebone Aura Rollout Across the Entire A1 Group

A1 Slovenia has joined the A1 Telekom Austria Group operators offering consumer cybersecurity A1 Protekt, powered by Whalebone Aura. With Slovenia now live, every market in the A1 Group is protected by Whalebone Aura, a milestone reached more than six years into the partnership between Whalebone and A1 Telekom Group.

A unified cybersecurity layer across the entire A1 Group

Each A1 operator runs Whalebone Aura under their local brand and tailors the user experience, pricing, and content controls to its market. The shared foundation underneath gives the Group consistent threat protection, consistent reporting, and a common roadmap for new features.

For A1 Slovenia's customers, the practical effect is immediate: protection against malware, phishing, and other online threats as soon the service is activated, with nothing to download and nothing to configure.

"Joining the rest of the A1 Group on a shared security layer means our customers in Slovenia benefit from the same proven protection trusted across European markets, delivered under our own brand and tailored to what people here actually need. Cybersecurity should be a natural part of the digital life experience, not something our customers have to think about – and that is exactly what we are now able to offer everyone on our network."

 — Jure Bohinc, Marketing Director, A1 Slovenia

Cybersecurity built specifically for telcos

Whalebone Aura is purpose-built for mobile and fixed operators. It is white-label by default, fully branded as the operator's own service, and runs at the network level – which means every subscriber is covered on every device, with no app to install, no software to configure, and no impact on browsing speed. Activation takes seconds through the channels operators already use.

The commercial case for telcos is just as direct. Aura grows ARPU through a service customers actually use, reduces churn because protection is felt rather than only sold, and reaches the entire customer base – consumer, SoHo, and B2B – without the friction that has historically kept cybersecurity attachment rates low. Out of the box, the product ships with multiple end-user touchpoints that operators can localize and adapt to their own brand and tone, so the value of the service is visible to customers every month.

Whalebone now works with more than 400 communication service providers worldwide, and the seven-market A1 Group rollout is one of the clearest examples of how the model scales across different languages, regulations, and customer profiles.

With Slovenia live, every A1 Group customer who wants cybersecurity built into their network now has it – connected means protected, in every A1 market.
